The Editor's Take- On a more serious note- thank God this kid is alive, let alone walking awayon his own. If Jeff Gordon's front impact wasn't enough (it was "just" the front to some, I thought Jeff was gone.) to convince everyone that this is a safer car, then this 1/4 lap of qualifying should erase all doubt. Many know that I was not the biggest fan of the "COT". I feared the changes would be detrimental to our sport. Over the past 3 years, as ideas and designs have come to fruition, I have been, little bylittle, won over. Now that it has been on the track for a while, it continues to amaze me. Sure, it has its flaws, but don't we all? Think of the cars that have been raced over the years, if you had one to buffer the crashes in your life, wouldn't you pick the COT? Consider Gordon and McDowell's "crash tests", both, by most accounts should have been career ending, if not life ending. Look at the good, instead of digging to find the one thing that's "wrong". (That's what tabloids are for.) I haven't had a chance to mention the 3 Musketeers, but I estatic that Wylie Kylie has finally made the team complete. I wonder if Kurt would agree? Kyle fits with Gibbs, Jr. fits with Hendricks, all is well.... or is it? This brings me to my toast, for those of you at DLP, proceed with sense of humor. A toast to DLP for finding a driver who gets that the mirrors are for watching the other 42 drivers behind you. To NASCAR, all of the teams, and the many others who work to ensure the safety of our drivers. To Kyle Busch for proving it's not the mirrors, it's the drivers. To Carl Edwards for proving that flipping out an be a good thing, if you're a Rousch fan. (Still waiting for a little wet grass!) To Uncle Dick, that's what I called him when I was a kid, Dick Trickle- my best to you and your family, I wish I could go back and re-live it all. You will always be in my heart. Finally, to NASCAR AND IT'S FANS!!! What happened to all the high and mighty, better than you open wheelers? Oh, that's right.... Restrictor Plate THIS!: An Unapologetic Look At Stock Car Racing Jerry Wilson has proven with his writing that not everything revolves around NASCAR, but what does is well worth dissecting. His interesting way of doing that dissection is what keeps his fans begging for more. He has hinted to new books in progress, but in the meantime check out his blogs and his pod cast! Be sure to check out his diaries, too, they contain a lot of detail and info!

| My Crew, and a few of you, have said that I need to let people know more about me, so I figured the best way to do that would be to share a few of my mottos. I hope this will give you a chance to know me, not my stats. I find that stats (age, sex, race, religion, and all the other form questions) don't say anything about the person and are useless to me. I have also found that there are people who look at stats first to judge "who" they want to "know", without looking further to find who they are as a human. I feel nothing for these types, because to even feel sorry for them would be a waste of energy. We are all human, but it is our choice to be a good one or a bad one. The first "A Motto To Live By" I have had framed for all to see for a decade or so. I got it in the mail as an example from a printing company and have no clue as to who the author is, the rest are my own. "A Motto To Live By" What you do for yourself dies with you, What you do for others lives on and becomes immortal. (I have kept this near through the homeless, destitute, begging times. If anyone knows who the author is, please let me know.) "My Space Motto" I want my worth in this life to be guaged, not by how many claim they knew me, but by how I am remembered by those who did know me. "My Version of A Motto To Live By" Live for today, Dream of tomorrow, And look back on yesterday fondly, Know that today is what you make of it, The promise of tomorrow is yet to come, And yesterday cannot be changed, If you have faith in your inner power, If you have confidence in yourself, And if you believe in the choices you make, The possibilities of today can be endless, The dreams of tomorrow limitless, And the memories of yesterday without regret. "For Business and Personal Use" I remain loyal, unlike some in our sport. (Pick your sport, the most common sport is life.) and Remember, smiles spread and, unlike rumors, they never get old or ugly. "As an Editor" Everyone has the right to an opinion, and I have the right to ignore those opinions. I have the right to my opinion, and everyone has the right to ignore my opinion. The right to my opinion does not make my opinion right, and to ignore an opinion isn't always the right choice. Just because I disagree with an opinion doesn't mean I won't learn something from it. And most of all NO ONE, especially me, has the right to tell ANYONE what their opinion should be. "My NASCAR Motto" 43rd is always better than 44th unless your in a truck. "My Redneck Motto" You don't have to guzzle beer, live in a trailer, be from the south, or be called Bubba to qualify as a redneck. Being a redneck is not a bad thing, but all it takes is a few idiots to make it look bad.
Points to Ponder: Evolution: Everyone knows about the missing link, well I found the link in NASCAR. Is it just me or is Prince Harry the missing link between Brian Vickers and Dale Jr.? Or is Brian Vickers the missing link between Prince Harry and Dale Jr.? Why do I have panic attacks just getting around people in a store or restaraunt, but being at a track, surrounded by more people than the population of most cities, makes me feel safe? Why do people claim they don't care what others think, then spend hours arguing with them about their opinion? Why is a person who lives in a trailer and drinks whiskey called a "drunk", but someone who lives in a mansion and drinks scotch or burbon until their liver rots is "just taking the edge off"? Why does tabloid media go out of their way to congradulate and make a big deal about out of stars going into rehab? Most do it just to take the heat off and check out in a few days. (Congradulations on your long struggle to fight your addiction. Can I get you a drink or a vicadin to celebrate your accomplishment?) Why do some men refer to women they know as "nasty ho's" if they have sex with more than one man, yet get totally turned on by a porn star who has had sex with enough men to populate a city? Why does my dog love to jump in the lake every chance he gets, but hides when it's time to give him a bath? Why is tabloid media so quick to label a truely talented actor a "has been", while at the same time, bringing us "the scoop" on "the stars", like who Paris hung out with last night or whether Bittany has underware on? I love it when they use the phrase "hard hitting reporting". I guess they don't know that Linsay getting drunk and hitting her head on the steering wheel while trying to reach the keys she dropped, doesn't qualify, no matter how hard she hit it. Why do I spend so much time pondering, only to realize that, on average, at least half of what I ponder really doesn't matter?
